FAQ

How is the Primo Air a good fit for slightly rounded head shapes?

  • The Primo Air has a moderately deep cradle with slightly higher head and cervical support than the Piano Air, making it the best fit for slightly rounded back-of-head shapes. It provides a bit more support beneath both the head and neck while maintaining balanced cervical alignment, making it ideal for those who need slightly more support without feeling over-elevated.

What does "head shape" mean?

  • When we refer to head shape, we're talking specifically about the curve of the back of your head (occiput)—not the overall size or shape of your face.

What's my head shape? I'm not sure.

  • We're happy to help. Simply email us at hello@kanudausa.com with a side-profile photo of yourself with your hair parted or pulled completely away from the back of your head so the full contour is visible.

What's in the box?

  • Pillow

What's the return policy?

How does Kanuda help with neck pain relief?

  • When proper cervical alignment is held overnight, your neck muscles can finally rest instead of compensating. That's where real neck pain relief starts. Learn more on our Why Kanuda page.

How do I wash the pillow case?

  • The pillowcase is removable and washable. Hand wash with mild detergent, then air dry.
  • Do not tumble dry, as heat may affect the fabric and fit.

FAQ

1. What kinds of neck and sleep issues do customers come to Kanuda with?
  • Most customers come to us after everyday struggles: morning neck and shoulder stiffness, all-day tension, tension headaches, tossing and turning, waking through the night, and "tech neck" from desk work—often after trying memory foam, feather, adjustable, and other one-sized fits all pillows without finding real support.

Others are managing more specific conditions and want better nightly support: degenerative disc disease, bulging or protruding discs, pinched nerves and tingling in the arms or hands, cervical stenosis, arthritis, forward-head posture, cervical facet syndrome, hypermobility and EDS, cervical vertigo, and recovery from car-accident and other neck injuries. Many are also side or back sleepers who couldn't find a pillow that filled the gap between ear and shoulder or kept their head from tipping forward.
2. What improvements do customers notice after switching to Kanuda?
  • After adjusting to Kanuda, the improvements customers most often share with us are waking with far less neck and shoulder stiffness, fewer headaches, less nighttime tossing and turning, deeper and more uninterrupted sleep, reduced tingling and tension, and better-supported side and back sleeping—simply feeling more rested and aligned in the morning.

Every person is different, and Kanuda works best as part of healthy sleep and posture habits. But for many customers, finding their right-fit pillow has made a meaningful difference in how they sleep and how they wake up.
3. How long is the adjustment period, really?
  • Kanuda supports your neck in a way most pillows don't, so it can feel firm or unfamiliar at first. Most customers adapt within one to three weeks, and many tell us the support was well worth the wait. If you're still adjusting after that, contact us—it's often a small placement or height tweak.
4. Can I sleep on my side—and how should I position myself?
  • Yes—Kanuda supports both back and side sleeping. The taller outer zones fill the space between your ear and shoulder to keep your neck aligned. When side sleeping, rest your head in the raised outer zone rather than the center contour; it can take a few nights to find your spot. Our Tensegrity Foam holds its support all night, so you won't sink flat by morning.
5. Should I use the height pad?
  • We recommend starting without it. If you have broader shoulders or a taller frame—or want a little more height, especially when side sleeping—you can place the included height pad under or inside the pillow. Start low, and add only if you need it.

I have pinched nerves at C5 and C6, which caused neck pain and numbness in hands. I tried the cheaper pillows similar in design, they helped but do not last long. So I finally ordered a Kanuda Primo Air pillow.

The quality is great, I have been using it for 6 months. My numbness is gone and neck feels great. The pillow really does let you shift from back sleeper to left or right side sleeper, without effort. I recently bought the Kanuda Piano Air too.

It took me a long time to get used to this pillow as I retrained from being a side sleeper to sleeping more on my back. The pillow allows for side sleeping, but it clearly wants you on your back.

The headaches and stiff neck I used to wake up with are largely gone, and after months of use, my posture genuinely feels better. I “hated” using it at first, but I love what it’s doing for me—it’s a long process, but well worth it in the end.

I have a chronic neck issue that I have not been able to resolve but my therapy includes having good support for my neck when sleeping.

This is my favorite pillow. I have bought like 30 pillows trying to find the right one but this one I won't trade for anything. I waited a long time to buy because the cost is so much but I got some family to pitch in for my birthday and the rest is history.

I've tried at least half a dozen pricey pillows and been disappointed. Shredded latex foam was the closest, but I would wake every night and readjust the filling. Buckwheat, memory foams, contoured and flat — all fell short. I wanted support for back sleeping with a bit of lateral height so that I could turn my head slightly.

The Primo Air met all these needs perfectly. I wouldn't have guessed how well this would work. I've purchased the travel version and would not hesitate to buy another Primo if, heaven forbid, something happened to mine.

    Worth every penny

It’s an investment more than a pillow for me. I have gone to physical therapy and chiropractors. This pillow by far helped the most. It’s a lot of money for a pillow but it’s nothing to improve my sleep and wake up without pain

finally... relief...! after years of suffering

i came to kanuda after years of neck discomfort & pain while sleeping, trying so many pillows to no avail. everything left my neck/head feeling unsupported and in pain. ultimately i had been holding off from buying a kanuda pillow because i was afraid to spend that much money on a pillow (although i didn't know about the 60 day return policy at the time).

in the past couple months, i've tried the andante, the piano air, and the primo air. i have a pretty long neck and rounded head (attaching a photo of my neck/head from the side to give you an idea of what i am working with) so i bought andante first at the recommendation of the lovely people at kanuda. i also am hypermobile, so my neck is very bendy and i think needs extra support.

i think i'm sort of a rare case in that it has taken me a bit of time (a couple months) to come to the conclusion that the andante is right for me!! the first week felt great, then i started to feel some noticeable neck discomfort while sleeping, like the neck support was too elevated for me. then i tried the piano air, but i felt like the neck support was nowhere elevated enough for my neck, so i tried the primo air, which is okay, but similarly, i just don't feel the same support on my neck that i do with the andante (and my neck not being supported is i think my biggest issue). i've switched back and forth btwn all the pillows a bunch in the last couple months, and i keep coming back to the andante because i feel such a feeling of…

    An Absolute Game Changer

This pillow has really helped in improving my posture and quality of sleep. After struggling with insomnia, a slightly herniated disc, and carpal/cubital tunnel, I've finally found a pillow that allows me to sleep comfortably while improving posture and minimizing nerve pinching. I would definitely recommend Kanuda!

    a real gamechanger!

i've struggled with sleeping since i got hit by a car on my bike and have cycled through a bunch of pillows without finding something that worked. my search is over with the piano air, its been huge to both get comfortable and stay asleep.

its so good that i got one for my fiancee as well, she's also enjoyed better sleep with the appropriate level of neck support.

    Love this pillow

I’ve never owned a pillow like this before. I find it very relaxing to use, and it isn’t too high up like most pillows I’ve tried when I’m sleeping on my back. It helps keep my neck aligned properly. It’s also nice for being on my side. It’s versatile and smaller than a regular pillow. I like the density and that it doesn’t move around on its own easily.
